Hope & Politics in America March 2, 2008
What is hope? It is not what you hear from the current political landscape. It is not a hope that can be realized by inspiring the people to take back control of their government and to overthrow the establishment. It is not a hope that embraces sitting down with all of your enemies and hammering out a worldwide peace. It is not a hope that brings about a universal health plan. It is not a hope that will instantly improve our economy if we follow this or that plan. It is however, a real hope that God has planned from eternity past for those who trust Him. A hope so magnificent that it goes well beyond what we could even imagine. 

This hope will bring about real peace - a peace that defies understanding. This hope brings about true health care that reaches deep into the complete person to bring wholeness. This hope rejoices in the sovereignty of an all powerful God to protect you from enemies both seen and unseen. This hope brings about financial stability not too feed your vanity but to meet your material needs. This hope breaks the chains of the past and gives you a new personality and hope for the future. This hope brings you face to face with God because your sins have been cast off and you have been made into a new creation. The world will lead you to believe that we have the power within ourselves to bring this change to the world and hope for its people. But what does God say? He says: “trust in Me alone”!

Stop trusting in the works of your own hands. Stop falling for the power structures that are designed to destroy your faith. Learn to identify the power structures in your world that keep you from realizing your hope. Learn to say no to the world and yes to God. If you have not yet realized we live in a very godless world, then come to God now so that the spiritual blindfold can be removed from your eyes. Once your blindfold has been removed then you will see the world for what it really is; a most shocking thing for those who have been desensitized from the sin in the world. And in many respects the United States of America is leading the way by leading its people to trust in the power structures and not in God alone.

So what are the power structures that are keeping us from trusting in God alone? First and foremost is the idea that the professionals believe they have figured out what causes man to behave as he does. The world is leading you to trust in the power structure of the mental health establishment and social services agencies designed to keep you from trusting in God alone to heal you of every psychological trauma. Moreover, they are leading you to trust in their drugs to bring forth healing even when the side effects in many cases are worse than what’s being treated. Any student of the Bible knows that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. Reject the lie that God is only concerned about the spiritual and the rest is up to man. God from the beginning has always dealt with the whole person – body, mind and soul. The salvation of man through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is for the whole man.

The next power structure that leads you away from trusting God exclusively is credit and more specifically the credit card establishment. This power structure is designed to lead you into indebtedness by tempting you with a credit limit well beyond what you can afford.  But it’s not only by the purchases made but by the exorbitant finance charges incurred if you are late with your payment. Many well meaning people have been caught in this credit card trap and are suffering the consequences of indebtedness. I have heard people say that they keep their credit card and only use it in times of emergency. Let me ask you a question. Who are they putting their trust in when disaster strikes? Is it God who promises to never leave us or forsake us or is it their credit card? These power structures are designed by the devil himself to destroy our faith.

Another power structure discussed in my book, Final Warning, is the drug companies who are leading the entire world to trust in their miracle cures for just about every known ailment or imagined ailment. We have all seen sexual enhancement drugs to the healing of psychological woes of depression, anxiety, or bi-polar disease. People have become dependent on their drugs of choice so that when disasters strike one of the major concerns of rescue is getting people back on their drugs before they begin to experience withdrawal symptoms or worse. This is one more area where people have trusted in the drug establishment without trusting in God exclusively to provide the physical and mental healing that He so graciously promises to those who live a godly life in-Christ Jesus. Even doctors will admit that people who take care of their bodies through good eating habits and exercise have far less problems than those who don’t. They also admit that many physical problems are caused by mental and psychological anguish that have not been dealt with properly.

We have briefly looked at three power structures designed to lead man away from trusting in God exclusively. Although my book, Final Warning, goes into much greater detail it also looks at the overarching characteristics of the global city of man, a brief look at the beast and the false prophet, and more importantly how man should return to God and His truth in these last days. In order to stand firm and not fall for the power structures of our day I dedicate three chapters respectively on: how to fear God, give Him the glory, and worship Him as the Creator. Although we have an entire chapter on the eternal punishment we equally have a chapter on heaven, the hope of every Christian.
